Ruben Amorim was confirmed as Manchester United coach on Friday afternoon, days after Erik ten Hag was fired.

The Sporting CP will start his new role on November 11 and his first match will be on November 24 against Ipswich Town.

Former Manchester United winger Nani watched Amorim’s Sporting on Friday and shared some thoughts about his compatriot.

They have also not won a game in Europe, and Amorim will be tasked with making an immediate impact at Old Trafford.

Nani backs Amorim to succeed at Man United

Nani played for Estrela da Amadora against Amorim’s Sporting on Friday, but they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat with Viktor Gyokeres scoring four times.

The two shared a brief moment on the field. Nani, who spent eight years at Old Trafford, believes he can do well in England.

“All I can say is good luck,” Nani said via Sport TV The mirror. “He has done an excellent job at Sporting and I hope he can do the same at United, a great club, one of the best clubs in the world.”

“I think he’s in a great place. He has the opportunity to give a strong response with excellent players because he has all the conditions to do so.”

Amorim has been coaching Sporting since 2020 and has won two Primeira Liga titles. Fans will be hoping the 39-year-old can lead them to their first league title since 2013.

Guardiola welcomes Amorim

Pep Guardiola has praised Ruben Amorim after his appointment, he called him a top-level coach, such as YEN.com.gh previously reported.

Guardiolas Manchester city has already faced the Amorim team a few times and will meet again on Tuesday in the Champions League.
