Angry viewers claim Kamala Harris’s SNL mirror skit was plagiarized from Donald Trump’s 2015 appearance

Angry viewers claim Kamala Harris’s SNL mirror skit was plagiarized from Donald Trump’s 2015 appearance

Angry viewers noticed that Kamala Harris’ SNL sketch was eerily similar to the one Donald Trump took part in during his 2015 campaign for president.

Harris could be seen talking to herself when she made a surprise appearance on Saturday night, sitting in front of a mirror chatting with actress Maya Rudolph who played the Democratic presidential candidate.

But viewers quickly noticed that the skit was strikingly similar to the one Trump made nine years earlier.

Just like in Harris’ cold open, Trump was also seen talking to himself through the mirror and asking himself for advice.

In the 2015 version, the cold open was seen as Trump was about to appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, also hosted by NBC – the same network that hosts Saturday Night Live.

There were plenty on social media who felt that they had already seen the act elsewhere.

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green quickly tweeted a message in all caps, wanting to draw attention to the fact that the comedy sketch reeked of desperation.

Many viewers, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, pointed out the similarities between the two sketches, some nine years apart.

“HOLY SH*T Kamala Harris COPIED President Trump’s appearance on SNL. Can you believe it? This is what desperation looks like,” Green wrote.

Others on X also noted how the sketch, while different in content, seemed similar in content and followed a familiar path.

“I’d like to remind everyone on the left that Kamala Harris and Maya Rudolph’s mirror theme opener on Saturday Night Live is ‘brilliant’ and ‘hilarious,’ that once again, Donald Trump did it first,” one X user wrote.

‘Trump laughs at the fact that Kamala did the same skit he already did: research is important, look it up. Same sketch – SNL actor in front of him in a mirror scene,” another added.

“SNL has done the mirror thing several times. But with the election approaching, why would her campaign make her do something that directly resembles Trump’s skit? Trump’s skit was better thought out and much funnier. Seems like another example of the Harris campaign philosophy of Ready, Fire, Aim,” a fourth tweeted.

Many camera angles and setups seemed almost identical

‘I think Donald Trump’s performance in 2015 with the same mirror and the same skit is much better. The copycat copage is laughable at this point,” one person stated.

Others called the Harris campaign another example of her phony behavior.

“You stole this skit from Trump! He did the president in the mirror YEARS before you ever did. Typical play from you and your campaign. You steal policies, you plagiarize your own books, you copy skits. You are so TOTALLY FAKE,” they wrote.

Others seemed disappointed by the complete lack of originality.

“I saw a clip of the ‘mirror’ skit and not only was it terrible, but it was a repeat of the ‘mirror’ skit with Trump and Fallon!!! What the hell were they thinking!?’
