Hyderabad:

Stand-up comedian and businessman Ustav Dixit was arrested on Sunday for the Porsche crash at KBR Park in the city.

Hyderabad Police on Sunday said they have arrested 33-year-old Dixit, a resident of Banjara Hills.

He crashed the luxury car into the fence of KBR Park in Banjara Hills in the morning hours of Friday. He had fled the scene after the crash.

The accident caused significant damage to the boundary wall, grilles and paving.

According to S. Venkat Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Banjara Hills, the preliminary investigation revealed that the collision occurred due to reckless driving, resulting in loss of control of the vehicle.

The incident took place around 5.45am and came to light after a citizen’s call to Dial 100 prompted patrolling police to respond to the scene.

A suo-moto case was registered on the complaint of patrolling police personnel that a red colored Porsche car had crashed into the boundary wall of KBR Park, hitting a tree and causing serious damage to the wall, grilles and paving .

The police personnel did not find the license plate on the car. Later, during investigation, a broken license plate was found in the car with registration number TS10FH0900.

“The front and wheels of the car were damaged. The driver of the car had escaped,” the police officer said in a statement.

The ACS said the suspect was traced and arrested after verifying the available evidence and was sent for alcohol and drug tests and other procedures as per legal provisions.

The police have seized his driving license and sent it to the concerned Road Transport Officer (RTO) for suspension under Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Police have booked Dixit under various sections 110 (attempt to commit murder) and 281 (rash driving) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), section 184 (penalties for dangerous driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act and section 3 ( disaster that causes damage). to public property) of the Act for the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (Wbp).

The ACP stated that legal procedures are being pursued to address both the material damage and alleged violations by Dixit.
