FARGO – A Taste of Philly sandwich shop is getting ready in south Fargo.

The “Home of the Real Philly Cheesesteak” will go first

El Vaqueros Taqueria and Mexican restaurant

building at 3001 13th Ave. S., on the Promenade at the 13th shopping center.

Colorado restaurateur Ryan Kitlitz confirmed in an email response to The Forum on Monday, November 4, that he will be one of the owners of the Fargo restaurant, with more planned in the region.

“We plan to open more locations in North Dakota and Minnesota in the near future because we have a high-quality product that we know you will all love!” Kitlitz wrote.

The Fargo location’s grand opening is scheduled for mid-December, but the opening could happen sooner depending on how quickly renovations and other things fall into place.

Kitlitz is proud of the restaurant’s offerings.

“At Taste of Philly, we are proud to call ourselves Home of the Real Philly Cheesesteak. We use a sliced marinated steak that we prepare daily in the store. We ship in rolls from Liscio’s bakery, which are sturdy enough to support a heavy steak sandwich, but are still soft and fluffy inside,” Kitlitz said. “We will offer other deli classics such as corned beef Reuben, a meatball parmesan, buffalo wings, onion rings and house-made cannoli.”

The restaurant will offer dine-in, takeout and delivery service within about a five-mile radius of the store, he said.

Taste of Philly’s website says the Fargo location will be available soon, along with restaurants in Tempe, Arizona, Grand Island, Nebraska and Orlando, Florida.

The chain currently lists 21 restaurants in Colorado on its website. The company says each of its stores is individually owned and operated.

Taste of Philly focuses on cheesesteaks and hoagies.

The first Taste of Philly opened in Denver in 2003. The company’s web address is

El Vaqueros is located in the

process of moving west about a quarter mile

to a former Erbert and Gerbert restaurant space at 3402 13th Ave. S.

The Erbert and Gerbert’s that once stood on that site closed in 2023.

El Vaqueros is expected to open sometime in November, according to responses to customer questions on the company’s Facebook page.
