Caitlin Clark will play golf in LPGA pro-am

Caitlin Clark will play golf on Wednesday when she participates in a pro-am at Pelican Golf Club before The Annika.

Clark plays on the front nine with Nelly Korda, the best female golfer in the world right now, who has already won the title LPGA Tour player of the Year award. She will then play the back nine with the legendary Annika Sorenstam, who retired from the full-time circuit in 2008.

“I’ve been trying to practice as much as I can,” Clark said Tuesday at the LPGA Women’s Leadership Summit. “I’m just your average golfer. I’m going to hit some good ones, I’m going to hit some bad ones. I’m just going to try not to hit anyone outside the ropes. But it’ll be fun.”

The Indiana Fever star is fresh off a WNBA Rooke of the Year season and has put together perhaps one of the best first seasons in the league’s history.

She joked after the fever were eliminated from the playoffs so she might start playing professional golf in the offseason. At that point, Clark had been playing basketball for months at a time since November 2023. It didn’t seem like she would be going to the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league that will start soon.

She joked about going golfing.

“I’ve tried to take as much time as I can to practice, but there is only so much hope. Cross your fingers, pray,” she said at the leadership summit. “No, I practiced a little bit and I had just gotten the quote that I was going to be a professional golfer. Everyone thought I was serious. I wasn’t serious. I love it. I love being outside and being competitive be with my friends.”
