Dozens of rabbits found dead or dying in the field

Dozens of rabbits have been found dead, dying or in poor condition after being left in a field.

Animal rescue volunteers were called to Chaddesley Corbett in Worcestershire on Monday to help retrieve the animals. Some of them had no ears or eyes and smelled bad because they were in such a bad condition, they said.

Fifty-six bunnies were captured and kept in a resident’s shed overnight, but dozens of others had already died or run away into nearby woods.

Volunteers at Lucky Bunny and Friends Rescue in Dudley are asking for donations to help cover vet bills and care. It is not yet known how the rabbits got there and West Mercia Police said investigations were continuing.
