Man charged in robbery, dragging 94-year-old woman to Philly pharmacy: prosecutor

PHILADELPHIAAn elderly woman was waiting for medication when officials said she was the victim of a robbery, and now the suspect has been charged.

Janhyi Boyd, 20, approached the 94-year-old on Oct. 18 at a Rite Aid on West Chelten Avenue in Germantown.

Ms. Pringle was waiting for a prescription when Boyd tried to run away with her bag, the prosecutor’s office said.

She was dragged across the floor as she tried to hold on to her bag.

MORE SHORT LINES:

When an envelope containing cash fell out, officials said the suspect grabbed it and tried to flee.

He was arrested a few blocks away and has since been charged with theft, simple assault, recklessly endangering another and evading arrest.

Officials say pharmacy staff came to the aid of Ms. Pringle, who suffered minor injuries to her knees.
