Alligator discovered by Michigan State Police during a drug bust

ECORSE, MI – Law enforcement officers executing a search warrant Tuesday encountered a different kind of scale than they expected when an alligator was found in the home. Michigan State Police have not provided much information about the alligator other than that it was turned over to a local animal shelter.

Members of the Metro Narcotics Enforcement Team (MNET) conducted the search as part of a federally supported project that also involved the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs and the U.S. Department of Justice.

The police seized more than 500 grams of methamphetamine, 10 grams of heroin, six grams of cocaine, 371 grams of various pills and nine firearms. A suspect was arrested at the scene and the case has been submitted to the Public Prosecution Service.
