Iowa Attorney General Charges Man Accused of Illegal Voting

PALO ALTO COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is prosecuting a man she says voted illegally in 2021.

Irving Geronimo is facing two counts of election misconduct in Palo Alto County.

Bird’s office says he is a legal resident of the U.S. but is not a citizen.

He is accused of voting illegally in the Graettinger City Council and School Board elections.

This is the second time this year that Bird’s office has charged someone she says is not a citizen with election fraud.

A Marshalltown man is facing similar charges stemming from a special election in July.

This is not part of a voting audit that Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate released last month.

It showed that 2,200 people were potentially non-citizens.

The ACLU of Iowa sued Pate over the list.

A judge rejected it.
