Liverpool news: Opinion – ‘Exciting times ahead’ but ‘way too early’ for title talk

As we head into another international breakthrough, Liverpool’s position in both the Premier League and Champions League looks hugely impressive.

Who would have ever thought that Arne Slot would have started so well? And even when the first shock arrived, a home defeat to Nottingham Forest, they responded brilliantly.

There is of course still a long way to go, but the next Premier League match is against Southampton and then the visit of Manchester City follows. If Liverpool win both games, the gap between themselves and City will be at least eight points.

That wouldn’t win Liverpool the league, but it would give them a great platform to head into the rest of December and into the new year.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The last thing Slot or the players want is title talk. It is still far too early for that. The first task will be to win at Southampton and no Premier League match can be taken for granted.

Exciting times lie ahead, the Reds are in top form, scoring goals and not conceding too many.

But as the old saying goes, it’s all about the next game!
