Man loses 9.7 stones in just 1 year because of one recommendation

Darren Coleman from Romford, Essex, who once led a sedentary lifestyle, only took up football because his friend, Josh, recommended it.

“I could see changes straight away,” beamed Darren, explaining to Express.co.uk that was why he “wanted to keep going”.

Unlike a usual football club, the club that Darren is a member of is specifically aimed at overweight men with a body mass index (BMI) above 27.5.

Participate MAN V FAT football means that each player is weighed before the match and the results of the match are combined with how much weight the team has lost.

This combined result then contributes to the team’s position in the club’s overall standings.

“Bee MAN V FAT football‘, the weight you and your teammates lose during the week is combined with your results on the field,’ Darren explained. ‘And the more weight you lose, the higher you can go in the club’s rankings.’

Darren added: “I don’t want to let my team down, so I’m trying to keep earning bonus targets, which are achieved through continued weight loss.”

Since joining, Darren has lost 9.7 stone, made more friends and changed the way he eats.

“I ate loads of bread along with cheese, chips, lots of takeaways – a large Chinese or Indian – and I also drank a lot of cider, which I don’t do anymore,” Darren revealed.

MAN v FAT Football players receive support off the field, including a healthy meal recipe ideas and tips on general fitness

“I’m feeling really good at the moment, I’m playing more football than ever and taking part in parkruns, which is a big achievement for me,” beamed Darren.

Darren added: “My aim is to hopefully be the biggest loser at MAN v FAT at national level, and then hopefully maintain that target weight.”
