Have you ever felt like you deserve a morning off after spending a late night at the office? To a young employee, it seemed like a reasonable decision and he decided to act on it, even though his boss wasn’t exactly happy about it.

Ayushi Doshi, a lawyer, shared a screenshot of their conversation on X (formerly Twitter) and said, “I can’t believe my junior sent me this. Today’s children are slightly different. He stayed late, so now he’s late to the office to “make up for it.” What a move! I am speechless.”

The employee’s message read: “Hello Sir and Madam, I will be arriving tomorrow at 11:30am as I am currently leaving the office at 8:30pm.”

People on the social media platform have supported the ‘Gen Z’ worker and applauded his confidence.

One user said: ‘Maybe he’s trying to make sure he’s as productive as possible without burning out. Younger employees sometimes bring a refreshing perspective on how to maintain efficiency without compromising their well-being!”

Another took a strong stand against traditional office norms, adding: “Our profession has made this toxic exploitation the norm and widely accepted. However, there is nothing wrong with what your junior expects. You pay him for the hours he puts in, not for the change. If his hours aren’t good enough, then YOU hired the wrong junior.”

“Why on earth did you make him/her work until 8:30 PM, Grandma?” one person asked.

Some praised the employee’s confidence.
