Forest fires threaten golf course

Dozens of New York Bravests battled wildfires at the Marine Park Golf Course on November 8 and 13.

Both fires broke out on Flatbush Avenue: the first near the Belt Parkway and the second on Avenue V.

There were no injuries.

FDNY said personnel fought 229 wildfires from Oct. 29 to Nov. 12 — the most in a two-week period in the city’s history.

“Remarkably dry conditions in October and so far in November have resulted in a historic number of wildfires over the past two weeks, and we want the public to remain vigilant,” said FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker.
