Charges filed against a Newport Beach man in connection with kidnapping and robbery stopped by deputies

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – On Friday, the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office announced several charges have been filed against 34-year-old Matthew Parsadayan in connection with a kidnapping and robbery stopped Tuesday during a traffic stop on Olive Mill Road.

Parsadayan, of Newport Beach, has been charged with multiple crimes, including: kidnapping, second-degree robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, child molestation and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release Friday.

On Tuesday, alerted Santa Barbara County sheriffs made a traffic stop of an RV traveling in an unsafe manner at 10:43 p.m., they shared with the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office.

Parsadayan is being held in the Santa Barbara County Jail on $1 million bail, the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office added.
