Mizo leader asks 'Meiteis to leave Mizoram', government says he will not tolerate hatred

Aizawl: A criminal case will be registered against Raphael Lalrinmawia, a self-identified Mizo leaderwho had allegedly asked Meiteis, living in Mizoram, to leave the state before December, a senior state police officer said on Saturday, reports HC Vanlalruata.
Lalrinmawia claims to be the leader of ‘Mizo Defense League’. During the candlelight vigil here on Friday, Lalrinmawia reportedly warned Meiteis to leave the state as atrocities against ethnic Mizos committed by the majority community continue unabated in Manipur. The police officer said the government will not tolerate such hate speeches that threaten peace and tranquility in the state. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a statement saying that the Mizoram government requests everyone to refrain from actions that could lead to communal incidents within the state in view of the fresh escalation of violence in Manipur.
