Wolverhampton Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa is supported by manager after confrontation with angry fans during the match

WOLVERHAMPTON, England (AP) — Wolverhampton manager Gary O’Neil expressed his “full support” for Jose Sa after the goalkeeper confronted angry fans during half-time of the team’s 4-2 defeat to Bournemouth in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Sa gave away two of the three record penalties that Justin Kluivert had converted after being tackled with back passes. The Portuguese goalkeeper argued with angry fans, who were subsequently sent off.

O’Neil did not see the incident, but offered his support to Sa.

“Situations like this that we are in have heightened emotions and reactions,” said O’Neil, who is under pressure with his team in third and final place.

“Jose Sa has my full support. What he needs from me, he will get. He should not have received the passes he received today. Of course he can clean up the first one much faster. None of the players have anything but my full support. We will tackle this difficult situation together.”
