Star Giannis Antetokounmpo lands on injury report before Bucks vs Wizards

The Milwaukee Bucks will take on the Washington Wizards on Saturday as they try to break the .500 mark. Milwaukee has battled back to post a 9-9 record for the season after a very slow start to the year.

Milwaukee is dealing with some injuries ahead of this game against the Wizards. Several players ended up on the injury report, including star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo is listed as likely for this game, but we’ll know more once we get closer to the official tipoff. Marjon Beauchamp is also listed as likely for the Bucks, while a few other players have been ruled out.

Antetokounmpo missed the Bucks’ final game against the Miami Heat earlier this week. Milwaukee has been cautious with his playing time to avoid missing a significant number of games.

But if Antetokounmpo can’t adapt to this game, the Bucks will have confidence in themselves. Without Antetokounmpo against Miami, Milwaukee was still able to get the win after a strong performance from co-star Damian Lillard.

Lillard was special against the Heat and was heavily praised by head coach Doc Rivers after the game.

“Lady was great,” Rivers said after the game. “It got us going in the first half. We shot as a team, I think we were 60 percent from the three-point line. When Giannis left, it was so late that we were a bit confused.

Bucks center Brook Lopez also weighed in on Lillard’s play.

“He was clearly locked in and it certainly gave everyone something to follow,” Bucks said Brook Lopez said. “He was such a great leader and we all played against him.”

“It’s so fun to watch,” Lopez said in isolation about Lillard. “I just get to the dunker (spot) and then I’m pretty much standing on the baseline, in the front row, just watching. All I need is popcorn. It’s great.”

The Bucks will be hoping for Antetokounmpo for this game against Washington as they try to get their season fully corrected. The star has played little so far, averaging 32.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.

Washington was a bad team to start the year, so the Bucks will have to make sure they take advantage of that fact to come away with the big win.
